I have a massey gc 1705 and i see no way to make the 3 point float. I pull a cmp dethacher and have rolling terrain i drop the 3 point as low as it goes teeth are contacted with the ground first time i hit a high spot the implement is no longer making ground contact frustrating to say the least. It appears that the 3 point is set at a certain point downward and will not go lower unless your holding down the 3 point up/down lever which is what I do to help keep the implement in contact the ground when dethatching. I presume thats life but its really stupid to not provide some linkage component to allow downward travel. My big tractor has draft control but my gc has none. Anyone got any ideas i’m all ears!

Drive the rear wheels up on a block, lower dethatcher and 3pt all the way down drive forward a tad, remove blocks ...

I just hold my lever down on my GC 1725 when land planing, if it's bumpy.

Thanks for the tip yes thats what I have been doing is holding my 3 point lever down.

How about a Bungie to hold it "down" ... To free up that hand?

While I haven't tried it, I believe that my idea above with my the drive on the block will also work, not home now ...

Most all 3pt's that I know of "float" up, but not down ...

Here's an idea that someone else did:

I went a different (but very complicated) route. I installed a 5-spool valve to run my top-and-tilt (dual tilt, so that's 3 of the spools) plus another spool to use to rotate my back blade plus another spool for the 3-point. This last spool has 4 positions including float and puts the lever at a much better position (for me at least). But the "degree-of-difficulty" and cost are high.

Can you run a soft link for the top link? I use a chain for the top link on my landscape rake and it makes a world of difference .

I'll try that since its only a matter of a couple inches that the implement looses contact with ground, can't have it too loose then you loose the correct angle for the dethacher to grab the dead grass.

I didn't realize that all 3 points didn't float. With the lever pushed all the way down does it not lower to the mechanical limits? Other words it is as low as it can physically go? I have an adjustable stop for the lever that allows it to lower to that preset position. If I want to go lower I can push the lever sideways and bypass the preset and go lower. It sounds like your control lever works like a conventional detent valve. I wouldn't like that very well.

Do you have a flow control that you can adjust that controls the lowering speed? If it's turned in to much it will make it slow going down. The only thing I have noticed is that if my front end drops into a depression the implement may "lag" in dropping. That is sometimes related to travel speed as well and implement weight. I may slow my ground speed to minimize this but usually when I notice it is before everything is warmed up to operating temperature.

Not sure it would be of benefit but ran across this kit that might be of be useful in some instances. Although I think I would prefer to attach someplace other than the ROPS pivot pins.

yes bigger tractors have a depth control for plowing..etc, but my sub compact is weird if you are on level ground and drop the implement in this case a dethacher, or disc, land rake the tines are firming planted on the ground then as soon as the rear wheels hit a high spot the implement no longer touches the ground! If you stop on the high spot you can drop the implement further down so it touches the ground BUT I have to raise and lower the dethacher when I turn so you start the whole process all over again. I am going to setup a chain for the top link so it has a little slack when I hit the highs and lows will see if that helps. Some 3 points have a adjuster to allow the 3 point arms to move vertically 2 or 3 inches independantly , but my GC 1705 has none. So will see what happens. Thanks for the info
