3 point hitch lifting problems wont pick up

I have a massey ferguson 165 and my lift is not working. I have checked everything short of tearing it down. Any suggestions or am I looking at going into the pump? Good at the general mechanics so how complicated can it be? Just curious what I may be getting myself into.

I don't know if the 165 is the same as 135 but if it is there is a strainer filter that can sometimes get plugged if say a wet clutch is going bad. The filter clogs up. How did it fail?

Have you checked any pressure in the hyd system.

If the pump can't suck fluid through a clogged up screen, you might not have much fluid to even build pressure.

Change filter and clean screens if you have them. Put a hyd gage in the first valve IN port in a tee and use it to trouble shoot and monitor the hyd system.

Thanks for the tip but I have gone through the filters and the strainer and double checked the fluid levels all are clean and good thats why i am concerned it may actually be in the pump itself or is it?

Thanks J.J. but filter and screens are good have not checked the pressures as of yet but guess I need to before contemplating pulling the pump huh? The thing is puzzling I was bushogging an it just quit lifting had drag the hog back to the shop

Is any other hyd components working correctly, such as steering, loader, etc.

The 3pt, once lifted, and the lever placed in neutral, in supposed to be held in place by the cyl and the spool.

If the 3pt just dropped, then maybe a piston seal let go. The rest of the hyd system could be OK.

Did you accidently hit the the 3pt down lever?

Did you hit a bump and the un sprung weight add to the weight of the bush hog.

There is a safety valve in the 3pt circuit.

When using the 3pt for bush hogging, and you have set it for a certain height, if you then put the lever into neutral, the pump fluid is now passing through the 3pt valve at low or no pressure.
