I'm using a John Deere 4200 and a Tractor Supply post hole digger. Thanks to all the information I found on these forums things went pretty well.

However on one of the holes we were digging the 3 point hitch would not lift the PHD up all the way. Even after it was out of the hole it would only go about 1/2 way. If I pushed up on the PHD "boom" it would raise to the top and hold there.
With the PHD detached the lift arms went up and down fine.

I checked the hydraulic oil and even replace the filter, but still no success.

I'll probably have to call the dealer, but was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to other things I could check.

Thanks. Jim

Welcome to TBN Jim,
It sounds like a symptom of low hydraulic fluid...When you checked the fluid level, was the 3PH and the FEL (if you have one) fully lowered?

Well, I don't have a FEL, but don't believe the 3PH was all the way down when I checked. I'll give it another look in the morning. Thanks
