TYM 273
Hi

A few months ago I noticed the 3-point hitch was stuck in the upright position after I put the lever in the down position and turned the tractor off. I fiddled with the lever and it still stayed up. Left it for an hour and it settled to the down position. Now some months later it won't go in the down position at all, so the attachment (a box blade scraper) is stuck in the up position. The FEL is fine and so is the hydraulic fluid level.
Any ideas?

Thanks

Chris

Check the lock adjustment knob under the front of the seat. Also make sure the leaver for the remote hydro's is in the center. If not that you have a problem with the valve body.

Thanks Bud Soda. Was the knob under the seat. That's what comes of getting old and not using the tractor often. I forget these things.

Now I have the opposite problem in that the hitch won't raise whatever I do with the lock adjustment knob. The mechanic who while not a tractor mechanic is seeing if he can fix it. He thinks it could be the HST fluid is yellow and could be mixed with water. The bucket goes up and down and the tractor runs.

( Bud Soda I don't know what a remote hydro lever is or a valve body for that matter.)

Any ideas as to what could be the likely cause? Or how tough it would be for a non TYM (or non tractor in general) mechanic to replace anything needed.

Thanks
Chris

He is talking about the rear remote lever. While sitting on the tractor they are on the right side near the 3 point hitch lever. Some spring back, while others if moved stay open and can mess up hydraulics and burn up pumps.

The rear remote valve is under the seat between your legs when reaching down. Make sure it is in the center not to one side or the other.

Thanks. Pretty sure it's not the knob. Guess it must be one of the other dozen or so reasons in the T273 221 page service manual. Problem is that there are just no TYM dealers who also do full service repairs around here.

Not a knob. The knob is the lock. The remote valve is a gold colored lever with a black plastic end. Under the seat.
