Tractor
Long 2510
About 3 months ago I purchased a Long 2510 tractor with a front end loader. Waited until weather warmed up some to service it out change oil, hydrolic fluid etc...After servicing tractor started her up and check for leaks, everything OK.,,except no FEL movement, thought about this for awhile and decided to fill hydrolic filter with fluid (Very large filter). Filled with hydorilic fluid and walaw FEL works fine now but 3 point hitch will not raise. The 3 point hitch will stay up if you hold it in the up position and select up but will not go up on its own? BTW this tractor has an open center hydrolic system with on large filter attached to the engine. Also I posted earlier about the PTO grinding when engaging, with the new hydrolic oil it seems to be doing a lot less grinding. Now if I can just get the three point hitch to work again everything will be hunky dory.

Caddo,

A short while ago I read something in a Kubota manual that said if, after a fluid change, there were problems with the 3PH, leave the lever in the lower position, and run the tractor to purge air from the system...or at least I think that is what I remember reading.

You might try this if no one comes up with a better idea... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Do you have a knob that controls how fast/slow the 3ph raises? If so, make sure it's not turned the whole way to the 'turtle' position.

It does have a fast slow knob, but I haven't messed with it, it is in the midway position between fast and slow. I am at work today so I won't be able to try letting it idle for awhile in the lower position till tommorrow.

These speed knobs control only how fast the 3pt hitch drops, not raises. At least that's the case on every one I've ever seen. John

Caddo, I'd raise and lower the position control lever numerous times to work the air out of lift cylinder. It should purge before too long. Does the tractor have remote outlets? If so you might want to loop that also to purge air.

Just to update everyone on what I finally figured out. After careful investigation of how the hydrolic lines are laid out it now is apparrent the FEL recieves the hydrolic line directly, and the 3 point hitch recieves the "out" pressure from the hydrolic pump, thus making the pressure to the 3 pt very weak. This is easily reversed by swithing the hydrolic lines which are connected with quick disconects. The moral of the story is when trying to diagnose a problem make sure you have a thourogh knowledge of how the system is set up, if it is used equipement keep in mind someone may have modified it to meet their operation.

I'm more confused than when you started. Is the fel 1st in series from pump, with out from fel to hitch supply? I don't see why it wouldn't work that way unless using both simultaneously. Does your pump have more than one pressure port?

Sorry for the confusion, yes the line from the pump runs directly to the FEL control which is mounted beside the right side of the throttle lever. The 3 Point hitch does recieve good pressure when using the FEL but only residual pressure when not using the FEL. This tractor has an open center hydrolic system, which from what I understand does not put much pressure on the system until something is selected that needs hydrolic pressure.

Sounds like tank and power beyond switched. Glad it's working.
