I bought a YM 1700 tractor the other day. And the lower arms has two holes in them, one near the end where you hook things to the tractor and the other one about a foot back nearer the tractor. The upper arms was attached to the holes near the back when I got it. But as I want to use a cart that I have to haul fire wood to the house, I put the pins in the holes near the tractor to lower the drawbar so the cart would be level. Now the question is, do I leave them there to use my bush hog, and 6 foot scraper blade or do I move them back to the holes away from the tractor. The dealer did not tell me this, and so I'm just not sure. I don't think the hitch would lift it as high in the front holes, but not sure. Or if I need to lift them that high. So I hope someone can help me, by giveing me an answer. Thank you, I've been reading all the things on here, and enjoying it.

On my 1700 I changed out the lower lift arms to something a bit longer and more useful ( to me ). Not having seen your setup, there are still a few basic suggestions and observations I can make.

You won't have to lift your bushhog way off the ground.. so the holes towards the back of the arm ( away from tractor ) should work fine.

Good luck on the 1700, they are fun.

We use the rearward holes for a tiller or other "high pin" type implements, and the other holes for everything else. It just gives you a bigger range of motion.

I think I already have the longer ones, as I went out and checked them just now. Mine are 30 inches long, and the holes in them are 7 inches apart. If I am thinking right the holes that are the nearest to the tractor lifts it the least. As it lets it go a lot lower to the ground. That is what I was asking about, if I could leave them there, would it lift the bush hog high enough? And also the blade?

You may want the most control with the blade, so moving to the farthest hole may be in order.. as for the bush hog.. may just have to hook it up and see.
