Has anyone ever built a three point Reese hitch attachment. like these...
3 Point Tractor Hitch - Welcome! ...
If so, do you have any specs or pictures that you could share.

Also, how trustworthy would it be, I'd be pulling a lot of weight, but don't want to spend $200+...

There used to be an outfit in Maine that sold one for about $80 that you bolted to your drawbar. They advertised on here, too. I have one and use it a lot - it's plenty well made.

I think these are them:

Yeah, the problem with that is that I would have to buy another drawbar...... mine is bent.... long story..... but if I could just buy one, I could make one of those rigs...:drink:

If you are going to make one, check the versatility of the one I got from OMNI Mfg LLC

I have built a dozen or so out of old hitches and given them to friends. Fun little project and with a donor hitch it cost about $25 to build figuring steel and pins. I also weld a grab hook on for pulling shrubs, logs, ect.

I have one i built in the "Build it Yourself" forum. It aint the best looking thing but it works very good.

Here is the one I built. I picked up a receiver from an auto scrap yard for $20. The rest was stuff I had laying around.

They are very easy to make if you already have a donor hitch. And even if you dont, just get the 2-1/2" tube at TSC.

The part that concerns me is you question how trustworthy they are and that you will be pulling alot of weight. We dont know your back ground or your welding skills or what material you are using.

They can be made poorly and out of undersized steel and fail. Or they can be built properly so that you are more likely to pull the hitch arms off the tractor before it fails. I have made 4 or 5 of them IIRC. Two were not made with a donor hitch, rather an insert tube from TSC that costs ~15-20 bucks. And they are all built heavy enough I dont worry.

And when you say "alot" of weight, you should define that. "alot" is different to everyone. And I see you only list an 8n for a tractor, which isnt capable of pulling "alot" in the way I define it. Maybe 5k max on a trailer. And ~2000-2500# drawbar pull.

Another note: if you do build one. Make it so that the toplink is parallel with the lower links. This will allow the hitch to stay level when raising. If not, the hitch will rotate when raising and lowering, which isnt the best thing for a ball hitch and trailer.

I've made a few like LD1 stated above, most recent was to modify my Box Blade and added a HF 18" receiver tube into it.

this pic of tractor & my dump trailer I built has the yellow receiver on it that I built, can't find a better shot of the yellow receiver part. in the photo it shows i made the upright part a bit too high and it move in a arc like LD1 spoke about.

if your frugal and have access to a plasma cutter or metal band saw you can make the receiver piece from angle iron in not much time. 1 foot of 3/16 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 angle. I have built two of those and the only money I spent was on the lower pins. I bent the first one I made trying to pull concrete piers out. it still works it's just a little bent now. not a bad idea to have a safety chain.
