Mahindra 2015 4wd
Has anybody here had any experience with a 3-point snowblower on a 2015 gear drive??

A friend of mine has 2 for sale really cheap, (a 54 and a 64 inch, i think) The 54 inch would be even with the width of the tractor, by my measurement. I'm cool with that.

My concern is this. The 2015 gear is not a live PTO. So if I were to get into alot of snow, I couldn't spin the blower fast, and stop or slow the tractor down like a hydro, or live PTO without actually stopping the blower too, right??

So I guess my real question is... ...Does the 2015 have sufficient power (17.5hp) and a low enough reverse gear to handle a substantial amount of snow?
The first pass down my driveway is my main concern, because after that, I could just take smaller bites. Thanks for any input.

I have the 2615HST with 64" PUMA blower. Your 2015 gear should handle a 54" without problem. You should have a two stage clutch for disengaging tractor movement and PTO. Use your lowest range in reverse at PTO speed (mine is just under 2400 engine RPM for 540 PTO RPM). Or if you have a loader use it for the first pass then nibble at the rest with the blower.

The specs I just read seem to indicate a transmission pto. I would also think the 54" would work just fine. I bet Mahindra doesn't spec a blower because they don't have one marketed by them. Low range should work fine.
I have a 2810HST w/ a 64" blower that is also just about even with the width of the tractor. In years past, I've blown trails all around our field to walk the dogs. It only works hard in heavy wet snow with 22+ pto hp and I probably could have used a 72".
If the deal is right, buy the 54".

Driver,

I don't think you should have any problem powering and driving a 54-inch blower. I would only be concerned if you must push the snowblower up a very steep hill. You might not have enough traction.

But, just last weekend, I had no problem pushing 10 inches of very wet snow up a very steep hill with a six-foot blade behind my 2015 4WD (2015 gear). I do have my rear tires loaded, and I have chains.

My old behemoth Craftsman 28-inch snow blower, with a wimpy 8.5-hp B&S engine, has never been stopped. Your 2015 is a heck of a lot more machine than this thing.

Not having a live PTO should not be a concern either. In reverse, the 2015 4WD moves pretty darn slow in the low range. If it doesn't move slow enough, you can always put the transmission in neutral and let really deep snow fall into the blower.

If the price is right, I'd jump on that 54-inch blower. If I were 400 miles closer, I'd be fighting you for the machine.

OK, so the general concensus is that I should be just fine with the 54" blower, and power probably won't be a major issue except in extreme cases where I can blow out a quick path with the loader to get started.

Thanks for the replies. I'll call my friend today.
