:confused2:
I just purchased a Wiley 100 Gal 3-point sprayer with a Hypro Silver (8-roller) Series pump. The reason for my concern is I previously owned a sprayer (tow behind) with a Hypro blue pump and had all kind of issues. I only spray about 2-3 times / year, so the sprayer sat most of the time. Seemed no matter what I did, the pump was locked up (corroded) the next time I used it ?
When I received the new one (2 weeks ago), there was water in the system - I guess they had did a test at the factory. I drained the unit by removing the filter and put a gallon of RV anti-freeze in it. However, on reading the manual, I see the manufacturer recommends a rust preventive anti freeze. I do not think RV anti-freeze contains anything to stop rust ? I have animals and would like to find a non toxic / non poison antifreeze that rust protects. Is there one ?
Comment: I do not understand why these Hypro pumps (at least the 3 I have owned) do not have a drain plug ! I know you can "purge" / "clean" the tank while it is hooked up, but this seems impractical when not connected to the tractor. There does not seem to be a easy way to disconnect the hoses to drain. The hoses are attached to barbed end plastic fittings; which are extremely difficult to remove. The fittings are plastic into metal (pump / control valves). Anyone else have this issue ? Any ideas ?
Thanks for any help on this.
