3 Point Trencher

I am interested in a 3 pt mounted trencher. I have seen pics of the Bradco 612. Any recommendations? What do these things cost? Do I even want to know?

It appears from the price list of SWD in Clinton, Oklahoma that you'd be talking around $7600 with 60" boom and chain.

Sure looks a good thing, I was amazed that it mght be capable of 5' deep and 1' wide.

Finally remembered the name of this trencher, manufactured in Australia.

I've seen one working, digs fast enough but don't know how the auger wears compared to the chain and teeth on a chain digger.

Is this anything more than a post hole digger with sweeps and a fixed bottom point on the auger? Wonder in roots (we don't have rocks) how it would fair? kt

Thats about right, can't recall but from the pictures it looks like there might be small teeth on the flighting.

When I saw it working (approx. 8 - 10 years ago) I think it handled roots up to around an inch fine.

I looked into them a few years ago and thought the price was kind of steep for what you get. Especially considering what it cost to rent a drive along ditchwitch for a week or month. I also considered buying one with less then a thousand hours on it and then selling it when I was done. I figured I'd spend less overall that way then what I'd spend on rental fees. But then I came across one at an auction that I got for a good price, so all my plans changed rather quickly.

Man - I think for that price I would buy a backhoe for my 4520... I would not be doing that much trenching - just figured it would be handy.
