Weird one for you - 3 point on my 3600 won't lift unless there is no pressure on the tractor end of the top link.

I can't get my 5-reel mower into the shed.

It will lift if completely disconnected from mower, and if the top link removed. Fully connected and nothing. Both levers up to fully raised.

New pump whicj squirts oil pretty fiercely, plenty of oil in axle, the bugger just won't lift if attached to anything.

Any ideas?

A few questions and things to try.

First, when you say it will lift without anything attached to the TL, is there anything attached to the lowerlinks? IE: will it pick up any significant weight with the TL unhooked?

Second question, Does your 3600 have draft control and/or a draft override lever? Cause tension on the TL will make the draft control want to lower the implement.

Third, is there some sort of mechanical binding going on? Perhaps a pic of your attachment and how you have it attached to the tractor?

Pics will have to wait for another time as it's 10:30 pm here in the uk & pouring down!

It's connected with 2 lower arms directly to the mower frame and an adjustable link between the top mounts on the tractor & mower frame. Have tried adjusting the tension on the top link to no avail. Max lift i get is 1" off the ground.

This tractor has 2 levers for the 3-point. 1 is supposed to do draft the other raise/lower, though moving either individually seems to raise the lower arms. If there is any other way of cotrolling or adjusting the draft I couldn't tell you as I have no manuals for the tractor. Should get one really....

With top link removed but bottom links attached it will lift fully, but a heavy Ransomes hydraulic 5 mower on just the bottom links is asking for trouble. Cant take the mower off completely as the hydraulic pump is bolted directly to the PTO output on the axle and it was too dark!

It sounds like a draft problem to me. Either that or just too heavy, but I doubt that since the 3600 should be able to do 2k lbs easy.

Back to the draft, not sure where the levers are on your tractor, but there should be a long lever with about 1/4 or a curcle range of travel and be smooth through out. THis would be the position control lever. The draft lever is usually smaller and tucked more under the seat or somewhere. It should only be a two position lever. Draft on, or draft off. And yes, if "will" make the 3PH move by only moving it IF you have it IN draft mode, and position control raised, taking it out of draft will make it raise higher. Likewise, if NOT in draft mode, and have the implement raised, and then put it IN draft mode, the implement will lower.

So, basically, it needs to be OUT of draft mode. So, try raising the position control lever. If the mower dont raise, put the draft lever in the other position. In it still dont raise, you got something else going on.

Check to make sure your hydraulic system valves are opened correctly somewhere on the rockshaft housing.

no clue honestly, only what i have read here on the forums. seen enough threads come up, were there is some sort of knob you can turn, and/or levers to adjust position control and/or draft and/or float control. normally in and around the seat, perhaps under it, between your legs, or left or right side of you when ya in seat looking forward. i am going to guess knob or lever either got hit by a leg or arm, or vibrated. and set yourself up for current problems with lifting. and things just need to be adjusted.

if ya get on "newholland" website and go to the agriculture link, you should be able to pull up a parts manual. and you might be able to hunt down knob / lever location. granted the manual will not give you info on what it does or how to adjust for wanted results, but *shrugs*

You should get your owners manual out and find out what position your draft control lever should be in to disable the draft function. Most tractors I have run into, the draft control lever should be placed into the fully forward postion... and left there unless you are plowing/discing/etc. You stated 'Both levers up to fully raised'... so I would guess that might be your problem. Good luck...... Jerry :)

Sorry, for some reason your post about not having the manual did not show this morning when I posted... So, that option is out..... :)

Turns out the "new" pump was duff. Got an engineer in who totally rebuilt the system & fitted a later 3610 type pump with spin on filter while I was away.
