What could cause it from pouring out of the cap overflow drain pipe? I was using it digging a hole and heard the oil pouring out.. **** off the pto and it kept pouring out (pump attached)??

I'm going to assume that at one time everything was working the way it should. You could go out and dig with no problems. Then you were using it one day and all of a sudden oil started to flow out of the vent on the reservoir. Check your suction hose to the pump for air leaks. I think what's happening is the oil is getting air in it and the reservoir isn't large enough for all of the air to settle out. Then you have oil mixed with air which takes up more space than just the oil.

Yes your assumption is correct. It was working overtime as well. That's the first thing I'm going to check as this had happened once before and I can't remember as to why it happened..

Two other observations that I should have mentioned.. The oil looked greenish besides bubbly, and the swing cylinder (after retrying it after 10 min) was not a tight mechanical movement - meaning that the boom didn't stop right away when releasing the control it kind of had some play about it in both directions) but no individual cylinder leaks.. Slow response time to control movements is also noticeable.

Thanks again for the help..
Of after trying it again I ran it for 5 min without overflow but with all the things I mentioned ...

Air will temporarily change the color of the oil. I wouldn't worry about it. There are green hydraulic oils. Also remember that air is compressible and oil isn't so that would explain the sluggishness of the swing and the controls. If you have trouble finding the leak first just make sure the fittings are all tight and if that doesn't solve the issue just go and buy a new hose. Sometimes that is just easier and faster and it's not a big dollar item. You can also pressurize the tank with about 5 - 10 lbs of air and see if the leak shows up. Sometimes a bit of pressure is enough to seal the leak off though. Running the hoe after a few minutes would have given enough time for some of the air to settle out. You must have a slow air leak somewhere.

That's a relief then that the symptoms are something you've experienced. I'm going to check all those hoses connections and find it. Thanks so much for the help and quick replies it's pretty awesome that -and I hadn't any idea before buying this tractor - that you learn quick because of the problems that seem to come up often enough and -some helpful insight from people here on the forums. Thanks for the help. I appreciate it. DB

I had a neighbour a few years ago with the same symptoms you have. He could run his hoe for an hour or so and then the hyd. oil would start to come out of the air vent on the reservoir. Leave it sit for a day or so and then you could use it again. The pipe fitting on the hyd. pump was so loose you could move it with very little effort. He tightened that up and everything was good. Hope yours is just as easy to find and fix.

Just a heads up. Checked all lines nothing too severe. Took off the pump today and the culprit was the return line to the pump. 'so loose you could move it with very little effort.'
Thanks again.
