Need to work up some areas for a garden, smooth out my yard and plant grass and some food plots for deer. Wondering if anyone has both and which one would you prefer to buy than the other.Selling my 8ft 3pt disk to get something smaller to fit in the woods.Like to hear some opinions on this.

I have both. The tiller is my attachment of choice to do these tasks.

Since I bought the tiller the disk has not been used. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Go with the tiller.

Never owned a disk, but couldn't have done without my tiller.

I use a disc at the farm and a tiller at the house. I occasionally trailer the the tiller and my CUT to the farm but not often. If cost is no object, the tool of choice would definitely be the tiller.

I prefer to plow and disc. I think a tiller pulverizes the soil too much for the best seed bed.

now that jasnake65 started the thread i would like to ask a few questions myself, what would be a good size tiller for a b2400 and appox cost? and anything special to look for?

I agree.. a tiller makes a large fluffed bed of soil.. something you have to almost roll before final use.. I plow and disc...

I see you're not the only one with that opinion, but oddly enough, on this forum is the first time I ever heard of such a thing; didn't know it was possible to pulverize, loosen, or fluff soil too much. In fact, the more pulverized it was, the better I liked it. That just made it easier to plant. Of course my planting was for vegetable gardens and as soon as I planted anything, I hand watered it right down the rows with a wand for high volume, low pressure, and that settled the dirt around the plants and/or seeds.
