Anyone seen the JD 3 PT hitch receiver hitch?

3-point hitch tractor receiver hitch

My price locally is around $150 (don't know if that is list or not) and I don't have to pay any shipping charges. Also, it comes in the right color. It should be in middle of next week.

Regards,
Ira

Good price for the product. As you may know, two of our sponsors here on TBN offer similar products. One is less expensive, and the other, which most closely resembles the JD product, is more expensive. And they're both black, so, if not the "right" color, at least they're not the "wrong" color (blue <gasp!> or red ). Select the "Store" tab on any TBN page foi more 411.

looks good - remember that you don't exert downforce from the 3pt hitch so you can get a situation where the three point hitch rides up with the trailer when you have a heavy load - this can dangerously unweight the back end of the tractor and move you in the wrong direction at the wrong time. My set up from badriver has a chain to connect to the drawbar to keep the 3pt from moving up.

Enjoy,
Brad

I broke the less expensive version from TBN, so I am thinking that I am gonna get the Deere version.

My local dealer called and said he had a couple in stock after all, so I went by and picked one up. Final cost was $135 plus tax so I'm very happy with the cost.

It looks strong enough for what I need, and it is the right color. Build quality looks pretty good. 99% of what I will use it for is to move an empty 16 ft steel bed lowboy trailer (about 2000 lb.) in and out of my shop, so I won't be going very far or over unlevel ground. I do however want to figure out a way to chain it to the drawbar so it can't move up if the tongue weight goes negative (which is very unlikely).

It looks like there is plenty of room beneath the holes for the toplink pin to drill another set of holes for another pin that could be use to tie a chain to the hitch. Also, there is a horizontal brace about six inches below the pin holes that I guess could be drilled for an eyebolt or something, although the brace isn't as thick as the other parts. I'm thinking about buying a quick hitch, so I'm holding off making a decision on how to do this until I decide on the quickhitch.

It looks like the hitch is actually made by "FEMCO, INC." Is this the same FEMCO that makes the sprayers that TSC sells, or is it some kind of acronym for the JD Frontier division?

Regards,
Ira

I just got quoted $250, so I am gonna shop around and see if I can get that price lower. That included shipping to the DEALER:eek:

BTW IRA, what dealer are you purchadsing this attachment from. It might be cheaper to order from them and ship it than to pay $250 plus tax!

I'd rather not say. He's a friend and I don't know if he would give similar prices to others. That's why in my first post, I said I didn't know if the price I got was list or discounted because I can't always tell. For example, when I went to pick up the hitch, I asked for a price on a ballast box. He said $230, but at the Deere website it is $202. He had one out in the yard that he said he would let me have for $200. It had been sitting out uncovered for three years (had the date of manufacture sticker on it and I have seen it there for quite a while, in the same place) and had surface rust inside from holding rain water. No telling what the bottom surface looked like, and I didn't check.

I have no idea why he discounted the hitch so much, especially since he sometimes charges me list price for items. I don't ask for a discount and just take the price he gives me unless it seems over list price. I know that seems kinda strange, but I hate to negotiate prices.

Ira

Ira, Ok, I understand. BTW, I got my ballast box for $180 locally, so I do have a few options with regards to dealers.
