Let's say that you want to move 1/2 a face cord of firewood around in tight quarters. I think that ticket would be to make a 4' x 4' 3Pt hitch "trailer" or cart that you could load up & then back up to the location that you want without the hassle of trying to manuver a trailer.

Has anyone ever made such an animal? Any thoughts on the idea? Pictures?

I would make it myself (of course)! I have some 1/4" angle iron 2" x 2" x 6' long already that would make a great frame.

You're talking about a carry-all, and yes, they are great to have. I highly recommend them.

why not fit a full face cord on a custom steel skid thats 6' wide 2' deep that could be lifted with 3pt carryall or loader forks. 5' walls on ends and a sidewall on the side of tractor. the floor could be tilted toward the sidewall to prevent spilling. build as many as you need to get thru the winter and as they empty move them by hand out of the way to get to the next full skid

I see where you're going with this.... Keep the weight close to the tractor so that the front end doesn't get light.

I didn't have the tractor last winter. Where my wood boiler is, I can't stack much wood (until I rent a bulldozer & that means$$$). I had to move my wood a wheelborrow at a time up about 4' in elevation in a distance of 8'. I came down it backwards 2x last year with the wood on top of me!

I was building a modified carry all for a guy. It basically took the carry all frame and then had a pivot bed that could be dumped. That might work pretty well for you.
