3 pt Hitch

   / 3 pt Hitch #11
There are some 3PH devices that put more strain on the hitch system than others, a logging winch and the rear blade come to mind. It is the top link that gets the most abuse.

When driving forward with a rear blade the arms are pulling in a "natural" fashion and the top link is being pushed into the tractor. When pushing backwards with the blade the arms are being pushed into the tractor and the top link is pulling the tractor.

A winch puts a lot of pull on the top link as the tractor tries to pivot on the 3PH lift arms. Most tractor maunfacturers have a heavy duty top link bracket that is used when mounting a back hoe on the 3PH.

I installed one on my Kubota because I use both a rear blade and a winch. When pulling with the winch you can lift the front of the tractor off the ground and it is the top link that is doing all the lifting.

If you are worried about the stress check with your dealer to see if there is a heavy duty top link bracket available.
