I could use some help here guys. I purchased a Cat 1 quick connect for my 3540 because all my equipment is Cat 1. Well when I went to hook it up it didn't fit because the tractor is rated for Cat 1 or 2 so the balls on the lift arms are bigger. I returned the Cat 1 quick hitch and ordered a Cat 2 that I am awaiting to arrive. However, now I am worried that it won't fit my equipment. Can I get some feed back on this? Also, anyone else who has dealt with this problem I would appreciate your input on what you did. I would have had to grind out metal, or bend out the side plates for the old one to work, didn't really want to do that unless I have to. Thanks in advance!

The spread of the Cat II is going to be wider than a Cat I so the quick attach compatible Cat I implements will not hook up to the Cat II quick hitch.

The only thing I can think of is going with a Pats Quick Attach system for Cat II and re-pin your Cat I implements with Cat II pins.

You cant change out the pins on the CAT 1 quick hitch?

it wasn't that I couldn't change out the pins, it's the ball on the lift arms on the back of the tractor. Because they have 2 sets of holes, one Cat 1 and the other Cat 2 they are wider then normal Cat 1 balls and wont fit into the quick hitch. The slot where the ball goes is just wide enough for a Cat 1 ball. To get mine to fit i would have to grind down the ball or the inside of the connection point on the quick hitch. Or beat on it to open it up but really didn't want to do that.

you will find this is common with the tractors like 3500 and 5500 series now that they put the extensions and cat1/2 holes on the same roller.... these are more suited for cat2 equipment... you can grind the ears on the quick connect down to fit them but do at your own knowing.... but no the cat2 QH will not fit the standard duty cat 1 equipment..

I think the QH are more of a pain than anything for most equipment unless you have the QHstyle hook ups for the equipment as well.. even then with both holes on the same roller and the extensions on the arms id just rather eliminate the extra length lost from the 3pntQH

I had to open my quick hitch up to get it to fit my 3550. I just cut an angled slice underneath the attachment point, spread the opening a bit, and welded it back together.

I also have all my attachments modified so they are equal spacing. No messing around with the top link adjustment. Takes a few minutes per implement, but it's well worth it in the end. I can swap from a york rake to a box blade in about 30 seconds.
