just wondering, what the majority of u do when adjusting the sway on your 3 pt. attachments. i usually set mine to very little or no sway, is this ok? have been hearing that that is not good, seems to me the less sway the better or am i missing something.

Frank, I'm not sure if the sway adjustment on yours is the same as my B2710 or not, but the manual recommends having it tight for mowers, scrapers, forks, rear carrier, and earthmover equipment, but loose for plows of all types. That seems to be what others usually recommend, too (and I think that's the right way to do it), but I'll have to admit that I usually make it tight for everything.

I keep mine set about as tight as they'll go when using my 3ph finish mower (maybe backed off one turn or so). It makes a great deal of difference in being able to get the edges cut close. I run them a bit looser when using my tiller because I don't care so much about side-to-side tracking.

If you have a tilt cylinder, it is a good idea to keep it a little loose. As an implement is tilted, the distance between the draft links is reduced (measured in a horizontal plane), and there can be a problem. It depends on the type of stabilizers your tractor uses. I have seen damage caused by hdy. tilt cylinder vs. stabilizers, and although it's not common, I think it's worth mentioning.

I adjust mine according to whats attached. Real loose for tiller and rear blade if it is working rocky areas. If trying "fine" grading with the rear blade the sway adjustment is tightened up as it is for the tool bar.

I adjust my L3000 differently for each application. When using the York rake I leave them just a little loose maybe 2 or 3 inch side to side movement at the rake, but at other times I make them tight. I don't like that side to side action. On my 8N there are sway bars that allow almost no side movement just the clearence in the holes.

For the most part, I keep mine tight. For the bush hog and back blade it keeps the implement centered behind the tractor.

Tight most of the time. The manual for my tiller states, assure that sway adjustment remains tight to prevent damage.

I leave mine fairly loose while pulling my finish mower because that lets the mower "float" down into ditches and such while the tractor rides up top. Not a lot of extra cut, I'll admit, but it does seem to help along the driveway, for instance.
