Okay, here is another thing I cannot figure out. Most hydraulic couplers have an outer sleeve that moves so that you can pull out the hydraulic line. Well, on my New Holland TN70A with 3 rear remotes there is no movable outer sleeve!!! In one picture you can see the screw driver pointing to the outer ring, which does not move (it should??). The next picture shows the inner ring that does move. So, I had to remove the hydraulic line by pushing the line into the remote, then holding the inner ring in place with a screw driver, which allowed the coupling to release.

Anybody now if this is the right way for this rear remote coupling to function? If it is why?

How did you get the male end in, using the same method? The protective cover doesn't happen to be attached to the outer ring and that all moves together does it? I'm interested in how they actually work. I've heard of breakaway couplers before but not sure exactly how they work though.

That is similar to the setup on my Kubota. The lock ring is captive in a mounting block. Connect or disconnect is a one hand job. Push in the male end to connect. It takes a fairly hard push. To disconnect a hard jerk on the hose and male fitting will releae it. The inner body moves inside the lock ring. Just be sure to relieve all pressure on the system or you won't be able to do either.

I just pushed it in, real easy and gentle.

As Steve mentioned, I think these are the breakaway couplers designed to disconnect when pulled quickly.
Have you asked your dealer how to use them?

Thanks, I will relieve the pressure!

Mine are rather hard because of the hose setup behind them. Yours obviously have a different internal setup. Just remember push - pull, click, click.

Bob on a very positive side if you forget to disconnect the hydraulic hoses like somebody else I know did, you won't be dragging the landscape rake around behind the tractor or trashing a set of hydraulic hoses either. Personally I can see where pushing the coupler together without having to mess with the locking ring would be real handy. Especially if you have a pair of thick gloves on at the time.

Now go play in the mud!

That reminds me, I know someone who forgot to unhook the lines from his FEL mounted snowplow. I ;) I mean he only dragged it about a foot before he realized it, and no damage was done (except to his pride).

I will play on the mud. Pushing them on is easy, pulling them off is what bothers me.
