3 year old (300 hours) L4610 hard to start

For the first time my L4610 has been hard to start. When this happened my first instinct was to find the choke and use it. I can't find it so I'm assuming that it must have an automatic choke. I've had it serviced regularly by a kubota dealer. Any thoughts on why it is getting hard to start?

Joe, diesel engines don't have a choke. I assume that model has glow plugs. Are you using them? If not, or perhaps even if you are, colder temperatures might make a difference; takes longer on the glow plugs. Have you checked to make sure the fuel filter isn't partially stopped up reducing fuel flow? Is the air cleaner clean? And does it seem to run properly after it starts?

Joe, My L4610 has a light on the dash indicating the heaters are on. After turning on the ignition, are you waiting for the light to go out before engaging the starter?

Have you cleaned & changed the fuel filter as per schedule? My fuel filter bowl is normally a mess, each time I service it, & I don't really understand why. I also have a fuel filter on my tank pump.

Sure you aren't raising little critters in your diesel tank (bacteria or whatever that stuff that grows in diesel)? Sounds like you have your own storage tank and you may be raising more critters on that farm than you are aware of.
