I initially thought the same thing but based on my research on this forum the price for the non supersteer is in the right ball park. If I wanted the super steer it would just be that much better of a value.
Thanks for all those who have posted so far. I am leaning against supersteer because I will be doing a lot of FEL work as well as taking the tractor through some tight trails. I need to make my decision today (I want to take advantage of the 0% financing which ends today) so unfortunately i don't have time for an at home test drive

Thanks
David

Myself, not having ever operated a front end loader without the supersteer option, I love it. Lining up the Q/A bucket, forks, even implements for the 3pt is a snap. Just turn the wheel for minor lineup problems. The front tires not tearing up the yard is also a plus.

My dealer talked my out of the supersteer option. According to him, there are cables underneath which assist with the steering. I don't know this because I never looked??? Anyway, he said if I intended to use my tractor in the woods or around fallen limbs and brush the the cables could get tangled and maybe cause problems. That was all I needed to talk me out of getting SS. Others in this discussion may be able to verify whether this is a possiblity. I'm just telling you what I was told.

hmmm! I dont know why your dealer told you the supersteer is run by cables we sell lots of these and I have never seen a cable that runs the supersteer.

I have Super-Steer. I actually have learned to love it especially with mowing. In fact even with the FEL I have found that there is times when it is handy. Beleive it or not but being able to just turn the steering wheel you can manuever that bucket in some tight spots. So if I had to get it again, yes I seriously think I would. The only thing I would questions with it and even with my steep side hills it hasn't been much of a problem. But then I really don't fill my bucket with real heavy loads. My concern is the front wheel base being rotated does make the front end with less width. You could almost think of it as somewhere between a wide front end and a narrow front end tractor. But like I said, for me it has not been a problem. If you really seriously into loader work and will be in lots of sidehills I would probably not get the Super-Steer.

That's why I put the question marks. I never heard anyone mention cables. I don't know why my dealer would tell me this. It is not like he sold me a unit off the lot because he didn't; mine was ordered and delivered from another dealer. Sounds like he did not know what he was talking about! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Just looked at the Class III owner's manual and there are no cables. However, from the drawings therein, there appears to be extra linkage and at least one exposed hydraulic hose. Maybe that is what he was referring to.....??
