Ford 3000
I have a Ford 3000 diesel thats hard to shut off/turn on. Once it wouldn' t start in on position, fuel wasn't going to injectors. I tapped on injector pump with screwdriver and got it going. drained fuel, put in lots of conditioner with oil and atf. so far it , seems to be getting looser. any suggestions?works fine

is this the inline simms pump? if so have you checked the oil in the cam box?

if fuel thinned or empty.. could be bad news for theat IP..

When I acquired my '68 3000 is was BADLY neglected the simms pump cam box was full to the brim of diesely oil(overflowing out of breather tube),it was running like a hairy dog,idle seemed erratic at times,would stall sometimes from higher rpm to idle,etc draining it and refilling with engine oil sorted it

no mine is a Lucas, I changed filter also. I haven't ran it much since. Maybe it will get better with time

I suppose you have the CAV/Lucas (nowadays Delphi) DPA pump.
You say it is hard to start and stop, that indicates that the stopping mechanism is not working properly.

Check that the stop cable push and pull the lever on the pump fully, when stop knob is pushed and pulled.
Check that the lever is not loose on the shaft it is mounted on.
Check that the lever turns the shaft.

The lever has a hole that must fit the shaft's flattened surface. A nut hold the parts together, if the nut has been tightened without the hole properly on the shaft, the lever will not turn the shaft fully. Remove the nut and lever, examine the lever hole and shaft and you will see how it should be put together.
