Hi everyone, I'm very glad the snow's pretty well over as we had been working quite long hours this winter (an almost record breaking 12ft of snow this year). We own two 3520 machines for snow removal equipped with 59" snowblowers. I was wondering if anyone would recommend a good tire for snow removal. I have heard that Turf tires, believe it or not, do quite well for traction. I can say that the R4 tires we use are no good in snow even loaded with anti-freeze...maybe AGs are be the answer. Does anyone know which tire is suitable for this type of job?
Thanks in advance!

I'm new to this site so figured i'd show you a couple pics of our machines and fleet!::D

I would keep the current tires and add chains, but It does not snow in Alabama anymore, so I don't know much about your problems. JC

Hi turbo,

Like Tide said--you'd be ahead of the game buying chains--no tire will work as well as they would--studding the tires would be a distant 2nd...

Just like truck/car tires... an example: my neighbor got a "new" '91 Chevy plow truck this year with real aggressive tread pattern--great for mud--he was off the road 3 times before he ended up putting chains on the--not a problem afterwards.

What brand / Model Backhoe is that on the one 3520?

turbotime, I would go with AGs. The performance of the R4's in snow and mud on my new 3520 is disappointing to me after having a tractor equiped with AGs for 12 years. If you are doing commercial snow removal your application will probably keep you from using chains, because of the chains marking the surface you are clearing. Ags by themselves should do the job. The only way I would go with Turfs is if you are also planning on doing commercial mowing. Then Turfs might be a better choice. For snow removal go with the AGs. Only ice will keep you from getting around.

Yea, whats up with the Deere 448 hoe on the cab tractor? Did you make custom mounting brackets? Clue us in!

Sincerely, Dirt

Agree with Dirt, on the new 3320 I am ordering Its comng with R1s (might get chains for the R3's) and I will keep my Superturfs on the rest of the year

Hey guys, thanks for all the tips! Chains would work well but they almost spend more time on the road then plowing so I'm not sure how they'd stand up with pavement. As for the 448, yes there were mounting (extension plates) put on to bring out the hoe around 5 inches or so I believe. This thing really sits down when it's on just because of that extra overhang. The whole machine weighs something like 6000 pounds when we're done with it! Not a fan of loading the rear like that but it takes it. Looks real good though, and I'll make sure to post pics of it on once the 4 feet of snow around it can melt :p

oh and before I forget I caught this on Deere.com so I took a screenshot! just like our machine!

Enjoy
