I am in the market for a 3720 with a cab, but I know the height issue is going to be close. I am looking at both sizes of the R4's. Does anybody have the height of these machines with both R4 sizes?

My 3320 with the smaller of the 2 factory offered R-4s (15-19.5 on the side wall) measures 88 inches to the highest point on the cab. This is without any higher than top of cab accessories like a rotating beacon. I believe that the 3720 & 3320 share the same cab/frame size but the tire may be different.

JD literature seemed to have conflicting cab height information either but both JD customer service & the dealer were able to provide accurate measurements.

JPJUDGE,
I have a 3320 Cab with the larger R-4 Tires and I am about 90" to the top of the cab. I also had an issue with height and had to raise the header to my garage with a steel beam to make the clearance. It was worth it though. It has never sat outside and I live in an area where we are getting alot of snow with more to come (Oswego County in New York State). I was using the front snowblower yesterday with the outside temperature at 4 degrees and a windchill of -19 degrees. It takes about 5 minutes to warm up and then I am comfortable with no hat and no gloves, laughing at the blow back of the snow. Many people on this site say they cannot justify the $5,000.00 + expense of the cab and say Carharts are just as good. Well I have Carharts too, but they do not compare to the awesome cab. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to contact me.

Mike

Here are some pictures. It took a while as we have been very busy with the snow for the past couple of weeks and I am not fast enough to take the pictures and snowthrow at the same time. Thankfully my wife helped out. The first two pictures are comparison of no snow/snow and then some action shots.
We have had probably about 50" of snow in the past couple of weeks. As you can see it has settled quite a bit. At no time were there any issues with the snowblower handling the snow. As far at the heated cab, my wife (who does the snowthrowing while I am at work) says she will never be without a cab tractor in our area, ever!!! Always nice to have the little woman on board when it comes to John Deere tractors.

Out of curiousity what is your ground speed when blowing snow?

At full throttle the Load Match feature drops my new JD 3320 w/ 59 inch blower to 1 MPH when blowing 12 inches of powder on a slight uphill incline.

I thought it should do better.

Bill,
I am by no means an expert, but that sounds about right. 12" of snow is a lot going through a 59" blower, even though it is powder. If I go too fast I end up pushing a lot of the snow ahead of the blower. I don't think it has as much to do with the power of the tractor as it does the physical limitations of what the snowblower can handle. To put this in perspective you are throwing about 440 cubic feet of snow per minute at 1 MPH (12" deep). With 6" of snow I can go about 2-3 MPH depending on the type of snow. In short, that does not appear to be abnormal. Hope I did not confuse the issue.

jdx595,

Thank's for the reality check, what you say makes a whole lot of sense, if you haven't grown up with tractors it's hard to come by experience.
