300CX Loader Joystick

Hello;

We took delivery on a new 3320 Cab Unit with 300 CX loader. WE traded in a 3320 open station with 300 CX loader.

The joy stick on the new unit is almost impossible to move. Some times both hands are required. The original 3320 operated effortlessly.

Is the new unit operation normal or is it in need of adjustment or something else?

Sounds like you have the joy stick lock engaged or partially engaged. Have you checked that?

Congrats on the new equipment. Either your joy stick lock is engaged or the motion needs to be adjusted. Pull out one notch on the lock and see if it makes any difference. When I got my 3720 the joy stick was stiff but not hard to move.

What joystick lock. Didn't know it had one. On the front left corner near the floor on the joystick counsel is a small, black,steel gizzmo in a small pocket keeping it almost out of sight. What is that? It flops around loose but won't come out of the pocket.

Are the joysticks on a cab unit considerably stiffer then on a unit without a cab?

My joystick was a little tight when it was new. It loosened up after just a few hours of work.

I don't know on your model but it just should slide or pull out (not all the way). Mine was half way between engaged and disengaged and it was sticking in between. On the 2520 it just slides in the way of the linkage so it can't move.

Locate your Operators Manual. If you don't have the manual go here: OMLVU19809_L8
Scroll down the left side and look for "Operator Station Controls (EHydro With Cab) go to that location. The lock lever is located at (e) on the bottom of your joy stick according to the JD pictorial photos.There should also be a label affixed near the lock lever with two locks, one locked and one unlocked. Move several times from the locked to unlocked position, leaving in the unlocked position. When placed in the locked position it prevents the joy stick from being moved.


A - Operator Seat Weight Adjustment Knob
B - Operator Seat Adjustment Lever
C - Differential Lock Pedal
D - Rockshaft Rate-of-Drop Control Knob
E - Dual Selective Control Valve (SCV) Lock Lever

Everything is normal with your tractor. I know exactly what your talking about. Your old tractors joystick connected directly into the valve body. Your cab tractor does not go directly into the valves. You have long length cables that twist and turn a couple times before they get to the valve body. It's not direct like your open station. This creates a considerable amount of resistance in the side to side motion most noteably. Would be nice to have electronic over haudraulic controls like most of the new equipment that crosses my jobs but who knows. Maybe it raises the costs too much.

I did locate the joystick lock. Does not seem like it does anything. Just flops around loose.
