Cant give you any specifics, but get the 300cx. It will only be a couple hundred more. I have a 2nd hand 3720 with a 300x and really wish I had the bigger loader.
I didn't know any better when I bought mine, but still got a pretty good deal on the setup. No choice when buying second hand.
Wish I had more loader capacity, especially when looking at using pallet forks. If you are buying new, just roll in the big loader and a nice set of pallet forks. Couple more months of payments but you will be happier is my thought.

I will get the 300cx if it is compatible with my tractor (955). SO far I have only seen JD list the 300x as compatible with the 955. I want someone to tell me (from JD or otherwise) why the 300cx would not work if the 300x would.
My understanding is the loaders attachments are identical.

Hardware will probably fit a 955 but, is the front axle gunna fit the capacity of the loader? I have been real tempted to install the neighbors 300cx on my 790, just to try it. It shure looks like it would fit to me, hyd. couplers angle different though. Axles, tractor weight are factors.

My 300CX was about $4400, can't remember if that was before or after I changed to the
HD bucket. I have a 3320.

I dont have one, but I had looked into it for my FIL a year ago... The 300x is the one reccomended by JD...
Only one "problem"...apparently, JD Discontinued the 300x/955 mount kit as a whole goods package, so that means they need to be ordered thru parts...
Translation to english - Its more expensive thru parts....but maybe you can talk em down a bit on the parts to get a little closer.
As to the 300cx vs x fitting...I dunno, I'd imagine the cx would fit, but you'd need to use your head. I dont think the front axle on your 955 can handle 100% capacity of the cx. Not to mention, the 955 is a physically smaller machine then the 3x20's which normally get the 300cx, ballast and plenty of it will be your friend.
BUT, I'd probally still buy the CX and get the skid steer QA and just be smart about using it.

I too have a 3320 and I bought the CX and a 4 n 1 bucket for the front -that was pricy ,but know that I've had the 4 in 1 ,you couldn't get it away from me.
I had the same question - and was shown - the cylinders on the loader is the only differance between the 300,300X and the 300 CX to give the extra lift.
Jan 7th of 09 I bought an 2008 3320 tractor 0 hrs:
In Langley ,BC ,Cnd - I paid $20,083.00
I added 300CX loader for $4188.00 which came with a 72" bucket.
I added a 4N1 bucket for $2699.00 which came with a 60" bucket and needed to add the power beyond kit for $362.00,to run the hydraulic's.
The 4n1 bucket takes you from "just" a loader to an I can do anything!
I built a boom that I drive up to and close the mouth on and I'm a crane ,did the same with forks, you can bulldoze, clam ,bottom dump, ...it's just the most usefully tool.
