3016 no start, glow plugs not getting voltage

My 3016 hst no start issue has continued. I had a thread a few weeks back on this. I took it to the dealer, no start on the trailer, we jumped the glow plugs for 10 seconds and she fired right up.
Dealer replaced a timer and told me to pick it up. No start when I went to pick it up. Dealer kept it a few more days, said he checked all the wiring and connections, and it started every time for him. Got it home and it was good for a few days. Now it won稚 start at all, until I jump the glow plugs.
Looking at it tonight, fuse block under the hood cap open, crappy butt terminals used, 30a in-line fuse missing the glass cap and box is marked 50a. This all makes me wonder if the techs know anything about wiring.
Anyone have a wiring diagram on this machine? It doesn稚 look overly complicated, but a diagram sure would help. I壇 assume at least one of those 50a fuse blocks is in the glow plug circuit, I can稚 see much else needing that amperage. As the problem is no longer intermittent, I should have a chance at diagnosing. Dealer said bring it back if it won稚 start at all, 45 minutes away and not much free time makes me want to look into it myself.

Had a similar issue recently. Dealer found loose crimp on the spade lug that connects to the glow plug buss. Recrimped it and everything’s been fine. Haven’t done it yet but suggested I replace the spade with a ring lug. Makes sense to me.

That 30A mega fuse should be a 50A. With its cover missing I would question it. Its possible opening under load and it dose power the glow plugs. Dose the glow plug indicator light come on when you turn the key on? I have seen that spade connector fail at the power strip as mentioned. :confused3:

I see what youæ±*e saying about it potentially opening under load. Any idea where to get a fuse like that at a local store? If there are numbers on it IçŸ¥ sure I can order it on McMaster Carr.

Yes the glow plug indicator does come on as itç—´ supposed to, then goes off with the timer. I can hear a relay kick when I turn the key on, then the glow plug light turns on, timer turns it off, but no voltage at the glow plug bus.

I will try and check that connector at the glow plug bus tonight, and see if I can ID that fuse.

The fuse you may be able to get at a auto parts store. With the glow plug light coming on and hearing the relay I would take a real close look at the connection at the power strip. I've seen that failure 2 or 3 times. Each time I replaced the spade connector with a ring.

I will definitely check that connection. I used the tractor all day yesterday and the glow plugs worked every time. So it痴 back to an intermittent issue.
