My three point hitch wont stay nowhere I want it except all the way up or down. I have the selector lever in the depth postion. I am pulling a bushog. I have tried all postions and they do the same. Would love it to stay. Thank You!!

3020 JD,

Welcome to TBN! You'll find a lot of information here.

You also started a thread about changing your hydraulic filter and cleaning your intake screen. You may have other reasons for doing that. However, I don't think that will help with this problem.

I'm not familiar with your machine nor the bigger tractors, but since no one else has posted, I'll offer what I can. Some of the larger (full size, maybe greater than 30 HP depending on how you measure it) tractors have "draft control" which (if I understood what I've read correctly) adjusts the level of the 3Pt hitch according to the drag the implement creates. So when a plow is digging too deep it creates a lot of drag, and the hitch is automatically raised to compensate. Your problem could be related to this if the draft adjustment is set incorrectly.

Try starting a new thread under the generic "Owning/Operating" group with a subject like "How to control 3PT depth". I think that will pull in more intelligent responses.

Are you talking about your 3 point leaking down and then it lifting abck up. Movement of about a 1/2 inch?

My 3720 is doing that... Others have had the same issue and it was an easy fix by the dealer.

Yep, I had an issue with what i believe is called the Rockshaft Control Valve? but it is the valve that supports the 3PT hitch. I ran a flail mower on the 3PT hitch for abot 20 minutes and then the tractor started shaking violently, so i took off the flail. Then the shaking stopped. Then I turned the tractor on and pushed down on the draft arms with just my weight and the rear hydraulic pump started sounding like it had asthma and was gasping for air and the draft arms would continually oscillate/move up and down slightly. The arms also would not stay up when i would turn off the tractor. Once I got that fixed, I have had no issues, and my tractor no longer has "smokers cough and gasps"

Oh, i am sorry, I did not realize this was an older tractor - number confusion in the middle of working on a couple of projects!
