yep.. I got the gear oil.. the utf i could already get cheaper.. but 9$ per gallon gear oil was quite a savings. got oh.. 6gallons for my rowcrop ford I was working on, plus a few more for the next project. that next project just came along and I got enough oil to do it without buying any for the work itself.. though am stocking back up to keep some on the shelf as needed.. etc.

I got gearoil for the rear end of my truck when i changed it a few months back. I got the supertec at WM and i think it was hovering around $10/gal. Beats the price of the quarts at $4 though!!

I think I read somewhere that you did some bushhoging on the side. If so, I have a ? I need to bid on a job that has about 100 ac of smooth land that needs to be bushhoged once a year. I plan on using a 100hp tractor and a 15ft hog. I want to be competitve in the bidding, so any pointers on a good bid?

I try not to do any for hire work so that I can stay non comercial. I have however 'helped out' adjacent neighbors to my land and drove over and mowed their pastures for them

if you are looking for a time estimate.. my ~95 hp NH 7610s and a 15' JD 1517 batwing .. I mow in 5th gear on flat clean land and can do 10 ac in about 2 hours of straight mowing.. obstacles add time.. ruts, holes and non cleaned areas add time. SUPER overgrown makes me drop to 4th and so that adds time. I like to clip them at 2' .. if it gets to 3' it's 4th gear..

for price ideas.. take your time guess, then look at local tractor 'for hire' prices. most people hire out by the hour.. look at thier prices and price yours according to what you are trying to do.. ie.. help a person out with a decent price.. or side jhob.. or whatever. that will keep you in line with what is normal in your region for tractor work.

keep in mind for hire work can get sticky with insurance and all.. that's why I will help out.. but rarely like to do cash jobs...don't need the hassles. barter works fine though. I've cleaned pastures up in exchange for good old implements.. and such ;)

I have seen price ranges of $100 to $150 for a 15ft hog and 100-125 hp tractor. Some say they charge $10 for everyfoot of bushhog a hour. Thanks for the reply.

sorry it wasn't a straight price like I think you were looking for.. but I just really try to avoid any 'for hire' work. Again.. I don't mind doing a favor for a favor in kind.. or barter deals.. or creative bartering.. and such.. but I like to draw the line on comercial ventures.. especially if roading my tractor to my other farm... my homeowners INS wont pay if I'm doing for hire work.. and I don't want business insurance.. or a cdl.. or any of that jazz.. etc..

No problem. I was just thinking that IF I burned 5-6 gals of fuel a hour and depreciation/wear on equipment that I might make $50 a hour. :D
