When I was buying my new tractor 2.5 years ago I was looking at MF1528 vs Kubota
B2630 vs JD2520 and tried all 3 plus a
B3030. The MF 1528 is the same as 1531 with just 5 less engine hp. The MF1528 has just 0.7 PTO hp less vs the
B3030. The 1528 would save you a few $100's if you went that way (vs1531). My test drive observations were that both drove and handled very similar, but on paper the 1528/31 are about 600 lbs heavier than the 3030. I'm not sure where the extra weight comes from though. Must just be more steel and cast iron under there. Less weight for the Kubota could be an advantage if used mainly for mowing your lawn.
In my case I ended up going with the JD (sorry Kubota guys). I was pricing a TLB combo and the JD ended up almost $2k less than Kubota and the MF. The MF also had a very odd BH mounting system that I didn't like plus another odd feature (I thought) of a hand, not foot operated diff lock lever. The two nearest MF dealers at the time were each 1.5hrs away. Now there's a new MF dealer only 10 minutes away. About the same as JD and Kubota. Of course a close dealer that you trust is always handy thing.
Quality wise, I never hear anything bad about Kubota. Have fun tractor shopping.
