I replaced the "floating seals" on the left side of my CK30. It was pretty easy. The 3045 doesn't look all that different. I ordered the parts from Wallace Tractors. I told them what I planned to do and they sent me all of the seals I needed to get the job done. They really didn't cost that much. I bought both the parts and maintenance manual before I started. The parts manual was the most help but one or two of the rings did not show up on the diagrams. Invest in a good set of snap ring pliers. There were several very hefty snap rings that had to come out. Both inside and outside rings. When I put it back together I used a ratcheting tie-down strap to hold the assembly together while I installed one of the retaining snap rings. All and all a relatively easy job. Take that axle end assembly off of the tractor and put it on a bench to work on it. Keep track of the order the gears, rings and seals come apart for reassembly. Plan on not using the tractor for a couple of weeks in case some unforeseen parts need to be replaced and you have to order them. I would definitely do it again myself if I had to do it again. It was fun seeing how the gears go together inside there. I kind of wondered how it worked when I looked at it from the outside. Now I know. There was a seal that I did not replace which as it turns out wasn't leaking. It is a large o-ring that fits into a grove on a metal ring. To remove it I would have had to have the metal ring pressed out by pushing on an inner race of a bearing which would have ruined the bearing and I did not have a replacement bearing on hand. It's not leaking so that o-ring still must be good.
