Okay, ready to smash the tractor with a sledge hammer and get something else. It was running fine for about an hour (wide open throttle) and nice smooth low idle - no surging at all - and then it started backfiring/spitting again, idling real low to almost cut out, surging a few times and then would die. It would start back up but run rough unless I gave it full choke. As soon as I unchoke it, it would run okay for maybe a minute and the backfiring, rough idle, surging would start all over again. I am tired of this with this machine - what could be causing it to do this. The fuel is new, the fuel filter is new, the plugs were installed maybe 6-months ago, right before snow blowing season. The shroud was removed and the engine was gone over with an air nozzle to blow away dirt, etc. - very little if any. The engine oil level is right. Acts up even more frequently when a hydraulic load is applied - like using the bucket with a load of soil in in it. But does it even when just sitting still with nothing on the hydraulics. Hydraulic fluid level is right. HELP!

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and help with the seafoam incident - the 5-gals of syphoned fuel went into the truck. I didnt realize that the 3000 series tank holds 5-gallons.[/QUOTE]

I justwish my Cub had the 5 gallon gas tank!;)

I installed my new Johnny Bucket Sr and went to work on the 20-yds of top soil I had delivered for the new raised bed garden. The bucket is great, fun to use and works very well for home/yard type work. The tractor's rediculously slow reverse with minimum power prevents me from using the bucket as a back blade though, just bogs down and stops if I have it digging in what I feel isnt very deep. Having locking differential would have been nice too, especially when slicing several inches in the dirt/yard with the bucket moving forward - the rear wheel will spin.

I believe my 3235 specs say 4.5 gallons. I usually mow an acre twice before refueling.
