Hi out there, does anyone else have problems getting the range shifter in gear? I have to fuss quite a bit at idle, depress the clutch a few different times and she finely goes in. I have 45 hours now and am hopeing that after the 50 hr oil change that this will get better or go away. My tractor starts with the range selector in gear, would it be bad to just leave it in gear all the time. I almost always leave it in m anyway. Thanks in advance!

Something is out of adjustment. Your tractor should not start while it is in gear. This could get someone killed. My 2615 has always been a bit stiff when I attempt to shift. Sometimes I have to smack the lever into position.

The 3215 HST is supposed to start in gear but you have to push the clutch in to start it , as the safety switch is on the clutch instead of the range shifter.

I've had my 3215hst for over a year now (65 hrs) and the range shifter can be a little tempremental at times. I'm mainly shifting between high and mid. If it won't shift I simply move the tractor forward or reverse a little and she shifts fine. Repeated pressing of the clutch doesn't seem to help.Someone had mentioned that the squared gears need to align properly. It also seems to shift easier into high when I'm slightly downhill and into mid when I'm facing uphill slightly. Can't say it's gotten any smoother over time. Square gears are always gonna remain square I guess!

Thanks for the replys gents,
Looks like I will have to get used to a little nudging. I love the tractor so it won't be hard to do, best tractor I have had out of three others.

Does anyone else have reccomendations on just leaving it in gear, or range.
I feel safe enough haveing to hold the clutch down to start it and also step on a pedal to move. I just don't know if it is hard on the HST or engine at warm up and shut down.

It doesn't hurt a thing to leave it in gear, just lock the brakes and push in the clutch to start it.

My shifter is also very hard to select ranges. I too have been leaving it in a range rather than neutral when I restart it.
