Is it an indication that the hydraulic fluid and filter(s) need changing when the tractor seems to lose strength in the backhoe/FEL plus its hill climbing ability is weakening as well? The tractor was bought new in october '07 and has about 76 hrs. and no hydraulic attention at all. My theory is that since it was new, that break-in crud is blocking the flow thru the filter causing the loss in hydraulic power. Is that thinking correct?

The first filter change is at 50 hrs. Check you owner manual maintinance schedule.

I wouldn't guarantee that changing the fluid & filters is going to solve your problem, but I would start there.

One other thing I would check quickly is...Make sure you don't have the 3 point hitch lower links binding up against the backhoe if you have the links on and raise them up they will hit the bottom of the backhoe creating a dead heading pressure which will make the tractor feel sluggish.

Good thing Rick thought of that, as it is a very good possibility. I usually recommend when using the backhoe, take the 3PH arms off, because lifting them up against the backhoe is so easy to do without knowing.
