Mahindra 3510HST
I am looking to buy a new Mahindra in the next week and I can't seem to make up my mind. I'd like the 3215 series or if I go to a shuttle shift maybe the 3510 shuttle.
I have a 3 acre yard to mow with rolling hills and two, three acre horse plots to maintain, plus cleaning the stalls and fence lines and so on. Plus my wife has a tendancy to try and help from time to time.
From you experts a general users which machine will have better value after 5 years or so? And which one will do my job the best?
I am kinda leaning toward the HST a little more since my wife may try to help with the stall cleaning from time to time....

You will be happy with either machine.

When I was looking for a machine I wanted HST and
the 2810HST was the only Hydrostatic that Mahindra sold at the time....

Hydro is infinate speed of your machine . Many will tell you that
you don't get all the power to the tires and that may be true.
But I can spin the tires or stall the machine
so I am not sure how much more power you need.

Most of the work I do with mine is construction. So I am going forward and
backward all the time . I also like the fact if you let off the HST peddle you STOP !!! I never have to use the brake peddle.

HST takes a while to learn , with any other transmission
you give it more trottle to get more power , Hydro is just the oposite.

Get ready to get real confused as there are a lot of die hard shuttle people
that will tell you shuttle is the best way to go ,,, and have a lot of good points.

I have run both , I like hydro the best.....

Hi Chief, Before buying, I tried both. I chose the manual (shuttle) for several reasons. First, it is about $1000 cheaper. Next, it puts about 2 horsepower extra to the PTO. That is significant in some situations. Lastly, it just "seems" to use the engine power more directly, more efficiently.
And when using the FEL to scoop up dirt and load a truck, the cluth & shuttle shifter work quite fast, though maybe not as fast as the HST. But for runs such as mowing long straight rows, the manual transm is perfect.

But I'd recommend.if you are considering aprox 32 horsepower, stick with the 15 series rather than the 10 series. The 15's are made in Japan by Mitsubishi. The quality and resale value exceed, I believe, those machines made in Korea or India.

Hopefully Dave in Red Bluff, CA will read this and give his opinion.........

I sell tractors made in Japan, Korea and India, so I am good with any of the models. My personal favorite in the smaller ones is the 3215 shuttle. I would pick a hydro in some applications though. It just depends on the task at hand.

The 3215 turns circles on a dime, its also one of my favs.
I would go for the shuttle shift myself, that way you dont have to rev up the engine to high rpm and leave it there.

Just took delivery of my New 3215HST today at around 5:00 p.m. didn't get much time to play on it: however, the wife loves it and after I get a coat of wax on it tomorrow she's wanting to clean the horse stalls with it. It sounds and runs great, plus will turn on a dime as stated by a prior post...
I had read in another Thread about breakin on the engine and glad I did, after reading the owners manual I'll need to add about five hours to the tach before letting the wife on it.
It really seems like it'll be a great tractor.
Very, Very, Very happy with my Mahindra dealer and the complete buying experience..

congrats on your purchase.

You will like your new machine and the Hydro.

I think you get so much more control over a machine with Hydro when
you are in close quarters. As you may have aready noticed , you don't
need the brakes to stop.

Pictures would be nice....

Good Luck and let her have at it....
