Are they not the same thing shift wise? I have a 3016 shuttle. It allows forward or reverse in the same gear with a shift lever moving back or forth with a clutch depression. Very fast. I like the look of the older 3316 as it has a more squared off aspect . They may have strengthened the loader capability on the newer 3016.

The "shuttle" in the Mahindra world is the same as gear shift, right? You don't get power shuttle (fwd/rev w/o pushing on the clutch) until the larger series tractors I believe.

A shuttle shift tractor is a gear tractor that changes direction, (forward-reverse) with the movement of a lever. There is no separate reverse gear that you shift into. You have 4-6 gears in each range and you can be in forward or reverse in all of those gears. That is a shuttle transmission. If you have a power shuttle, then you do not have to use the clutch to shift that forward-reverse lever. If the tractor has a std type gear setup, then you usually would have 4 gears forward and 1 in reverse in each range, so a common setup would be considered 8 forward gears and 2 reverse gears. Sometimes there is a 3&1 w/ 3 ranges, so you end up with a 9 & 3 trans setup. Lots of different setups, but a shuttle always has the lever for f-r for all the gears as far as I know of. ;)

Thanks for all the good information . I don't think if the tractor is a shuttle shift will be a concern for me . My biggest concern is buying the 3316 that is a discontinued model and will it be a problem getting parts a few years time ? Are there any other things that I should be concerned about ? There seems to be more 3016 tractors out there than the 3316 . I am not a farmer so it will be parked most of the time .

No trouble with parts....they're Mitsubishi built...all of them...I have the 3316 in HST....3316 is turbo...is the 3016? That might be a factor if you need high elevation use or just want the turbo. Vice versa you may not want the turbo because there's more there to break. All these tractors are basically the same just a little bigger or smaller. The 3316 is quite a tough lil dude!

I'm about to purchase a 2011 3316HST and I'm not too worried parts availability. I need a turbo engine for our house at 7,000' elev and this seems to be the only model that has it. The 3016/3616 tractors don't have turbo.

Thanks jwcinpk . Elevation is not a problem for me . I live at sea level . The 3016 I looked at isn't a turbo .

Thanks alia176 . Yesterday I bought a used 2010 3316 shuttle tlb . It has 230 hrs on it . Paint and the plastics are a little faded because it was left out in the weather . It has the quick attach front bucket . The previous owner had welded some pins on the top of the bucket and there are 6 holes in the bottom plate . I don't know if the holes in the bucket were drilled by him or if they came like it from the factory . Maybe you or jwcinpk can check yours to see if it also has the holes . If it came like if from the factory I am curious as to what purpose they serve .
