Mahindra 3325
I bought a new Mahindra 3325, 35 hp, June 30, 2006. I have put 4 hours on it so far.

Yesterday afternoon between morning church and evening church I was bush hogging some of my property. I haven't had a tractor for 2 years so the brush was thick and high.

I had the tractor in 1st gear low range. I was pulling a 5' rotary cutter also I had just sharpened the blades on Saturday. There were some places where I was cutting down berry vines and small sapplings, about 1", these vines and sapplings were in places higher than the rear wheels. Also the tempature was in the 90's. My tempature gauge never got into the red but it was on the line between green and red.

Wat happened and why and should I be concerned and call the dealer about this?

Clean the dirt and dust out of the radiator. Use a garden hose and spray from the engine side. That should help your problem.

I had this same issue on my 5005DI. Turned out the thermostat was stuck. It would flow enough to keep the tractor from overheating, but just barely.
Also, think about this: A neighbor of mine had a Massey that was "overheating". He cleaned the radiator, changed the 'stat, and had the radiator rodded out. Still overheating so he sold the tractor (to another neighbor). Neighbor #2 swapped out the temp sending unit and has had no other problems. Moral of the story, look at the simple (i.e. cheap) stuff first.
I borrowed a laser thermometer from my dealer to make sure the temp I was getting was the actual temp of the motor.

You go to church twice a day? I have never heard of that before.
When my tractor gets hot the rad is usually loaded with little seeds, chaff, etc. You would be amazed how fast that stuff can build up, especially shredding the tall stuff.

My brush and grass was over 5 foot tall in places and thick. I started out in 3rd low but the engine was bogging down so I down shifted. In place I had to be in 1st low to keep the tractor from coming near to stalling.

Last night I cut some brush which wasn't as tall and I ran in 2nd low. Never got near to overheating or bogging down.

You must understand my property hasn't been bush hogged in over 2 years. I had been trying to get an Iseki TS2205 running. Finally I got tired of trying to get it running and I bought this Mahindra 3325. So far I love the Mahindra, I have 8 hours on it. But I am a little concerned it was getting close to the red line on the temp gauge.

When I finally get it all cut and I mow the property on a more routine basis I will probably cut it in 3rd or 4th low. I think the tractor will do normal mowing in these gears.

Yep. I am a Free Will Baptist preacher and we believe in three services a week. Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wednesday evening for prayer meeting.

I don't pastor now, I work at a Christian homeless shelter, and I can say I get lax on the Wednesday service and don't always make the Sunday evening service.

Cutting those high weeds causes a lot of dust, chaf and seeds. That will plug up the air flow fast. Tractor will heat up. Try cutting the rest of the high stuff early in the morning. Get a morning when the dew is heavy enough to keep the dust down.
