Tractor
...
Tractor is a 1978 335. I can't find the serial tag for the loader so I don't know exactly which one it is. Looking online it seems the 730 was a common loader on these.

1. I can't find the hydraulic filter. I have a manual for the 3600 and it shows it being next to the oil filter, towards the driver. Definitely no filter there. I found a 730 manual online, it shows a filter inside of the loader frame but I don't see anything there. In the manual it shows a line going to the filter inside of the frame, I've followed all of those and haven't found anything. It appears the frame is being used as a sump so fluid is getting in there somehow. Maybe the transfer happens where they connect to the rear axle?

2. The hydraulic fluid change procedure in the 3600 manual just has you drain from the bottom and then fill until it pours out of the hole on the side. The 730 manual says to fill into the frame, 8" from the top. Do I follow both procedures or does filling the rear also fill the frame properly? It seems gravity would prevent that from happening. I have a 335 manual on order, it may clear some of this up for me.

3. The bucket slowly drops down, running or not running the bucket will drop down. So if I'm driving it I have to keep track of the bucket position so I don't scrape the ground. Only the bucket has this issue. The main loader arms don't drop at all. To test it I parked it in a field with the main arms extended and an hour later they were in the same position.

The leakdown is either the cylinder or the valve, try plugging the hose and see if it still leaks, that will isolate it and you can fix the proper item.

I figured something out.. the picture of this yellow 335 shows where the filter is, notice the black hose with hose clamps at the bottom of the vertical frame piece.

This is my tractor, that hose isn't there. There's not even really space for it. The way that system works is you unbolt 4 bolts and the filter drops out the bottom. Mine has a large frame piece welded to the bottom. It also has a large triangular shaped frame which I can't find a picture of another 335 like that.

I was refering to the bucket leakdown problem, you would plug the bucket cylinder hose to isolate the cause of the leakdown.

Oh yeah, I got that. I was just adding information for my other questions.

Looking through pictures online and figured something else out. It's a Massey loader, I noticed the grooves in the arms on mine and no Fords have those. Here's a picture of a tractor with a MF32 loader.

Your tractor has a piston style hydraulic pump at the left rear of the engine that has no spin on filter element. Is the loader connected to one or more rear remote valves?

I'll check again but I'm pretty sure it doesn't. I'm pretty sure there's just 3 lines from the front connecting under the drivers seat.

Did you see my post above where it appears I have a Massey loader?

Yeah, I agree it is not a Ford loader. 3 hoses connected to the lift cover means it uses the piston pump I referenced to power the loader. No external filter, check and fill the rear axle center section (separate from the transmission).
