Being the newbie here, I have lots of questions. Hope we have some patient people online.
My 2nd gear is none functioning. That would be the gear at the top right on the H pattern. I would refer to it as 3rd gear buy the manual says 1st is a creep gear and then up. Anyway, if I pop it in that gear selection it goes nowhere and has a small grinding noise. If this requires a gear replacement or a tranny build, what would I be looking at as far as costs? apx.
Had a guy tell me that the shifter fork could be worn and out of adjustment thereby preventing the tranny from getting all the way in gear. A simple removal of the top of the trans cover and it is a quick fix. Have had other people tell me that is not going to be the solution and it will require the engine and trans to be split and worked on out of the tractor
Anyone here have any insite on this? Of course that is the gear you want to use all the time. Got this tractor from a landscaping company that was closing. It had a lot of hours on it but still seems to run good in spite of it's poor appearence. Hood had been crushed at one time by having the loader bucket dropped when the hood was raised. Made a real mess of things. Broke the headlight assembly out etc. Have a lot of work to do to get her good looking again.
