When I bought my 3520 I got my dealer to throw in everything needed for 50 hr service. The oil filter he gave me is part#M806419. The manual calls for M811332. The one he gave me is shorter than what came from the factory. It looks like it will fit, but it is shorter. I called them and they said the one they gave is the one I should use. They said they know it is a different size but it is the one to use. I dont like the idea of using a filter other than the one specified in the manual, especially if it is a smaller filter. What do you guys think?

It is actually not shorter, now that I have it off. It is very slightly smaller in outside diameter. The seating area appears to be the same and the threaded area, obviosly is the same. It is just a little narrower OD. I told the dealer this a couple of weeks ago when I was anticipating the 50 hr service and he assured me this filter was fine. I just have a tough time trusting dealers so I wanted opinions from here.

M806419 is the same filter I got for my 3520 from the dealer. Thats fine with me. I had several in stock from my old JD 870. I seem to remember the 870 being the same way. Filter from the factory on new tractor was not the same as the replacement filter.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it... I used WIX and JD filters on the 3320 and sizes were slightly different from the original...

Wasn't there was some "funky" writing on the original filter, and I think on the fuel filter as well (?)... I would guess Yanmar is shipping them to JD pretty much ready to drop in... with Yanmar-chosen instead of JD-branded filter.

Before buying the one for my 50 hour service, I checked the online parts catalog- which shows M806419. When I went to the dealer to actually get the filter, I had them look up the number and they came up with the same one. I figure this part number supercedes the one printed in our manuals.

The filter with the "new" part number works fine.
