John Deere 4120
Ok guys, I thought I had decided on which one but after driving both today I'm still undecided. Will be buying one this Friday before the John deere financing ends. ( dealer is offering 0% for 72 months) Both nice machines, both feel powerful. Will be clearing one acre of woods/brush for future build site. After that will be used to rototiller one acre garden, brush hog 2-3 acres couple times a year and maintaining trails thru 20 acres of woods. Property is hilly. Like the ground clearance and stability (wider) of the 4120, but the nimbleness is nice with the 3520. Difference in price is approx $4k. Any thoughts?

I have never actually used a 4X20 nor do my uses seem to be similar to yours. Except for a few times I would have liked more FEL lift, my 3320 has done everything asked. Now the woods could be a problem, but another option would be to stick with the 3520, but move to a CAB model. I started with O/S and considered an upgrade to a 4X20 CAB, but could not really justify the added expense. Did go with 3320 CAB instead and would never go back to O/S.

The 3x20 series has been everything I need. Like your property, here in wv it is hilly. I have overcome the stability issue with a set of rear wheel spacers from Bro-tek.

I'm a fan of the 4x20's...wider, more ground clearance, more powerful self lleveling loader, stronger 3 point. Also, I like the all steel castings and planetary drives.
If you can swing the 4K, I think it's well worth it.

I was in the same situation not too long ago, same two tractors to boot. I know a few guys that have 3520's and all said they wished they had more lift capacity with the loader and better stability. The guy I know with the 4120 had no complaints whatsoever. I know I could of saved some money, or bought an extra implement with the money saved on the 3520 but, after having the 4120 for over a month now I'm glad I spent the extra money now instead of doing it later.

I would go with the 4120, better to have the extra capacity/width than need it and not have it. I think you will find there are very few places a 3x20 will fit that a 4x20 will not fit, not worth worrying about. This might save you from upgrading later too, which seems to be a common affliction on TBN.

bigger is better. i have no experience with either model, but when shopping for a new one i am glad i stepped up in size

Ditto--you've got two different classes of machine you're talking about there and it's very rare you hear: "Wish I'd gone smaller"... that said, when your big projects are done, which machine better fits the remaining routine applications, would be good to consider because that'll be the machines "career".
The only positive about smaller is towing is easier, as is getting around & into tight places... well and working on them everything tends to be smaller/lighter, but if you aren't swapping tires, disassembling 3 pt, or moving up a category in implement sizing, the bigger the better! Have fun!

You won't regret going with the bigger more powerful 4120, the Power Tech engine, better hydraulics, stronger loader ratings, stronger castings & transmission.
All the best in your decision.
