Tractor
John Deere 3520
I got on my 3520 to hook the sprayer up to spray grass killer and I noticed the steering wheel took considerable more effort to turn. I used the tractor yesterday to do a little mowing and the steering was fine. The tractor has 140hrs on it. It is still under warranty. I checked the hydraulic fluid on the rear of the tractor and it was fine. Just looking for suggestions and ideas to see if anyone has had the same experience. I havent posted much but I have gained a lot of useful information from this site. Thanks

Just for the heck of it see if the power steering hose is intact.

My 3320 was delivered with it rubbing the front PTO shaft & would have worn through quickly.

I just dropped it off at the John Deere Dealer this morning. They were going to look at it this afternoon or tomorrow. Off the cuff he thought it could be a stopped up suction line. He said the power steering and the hydraulic pump were seperate but used a common suction line. We'll see in a day or two if he was right. I don't know how they could stop up. The Hydraulic Fluid and filter were changed at 80hrs and the inline filter was removed and washed out. The tractor only has 144hrs on it. Well it's under warranty so I'm going to let it be their problem. Was just wondering if anyone had had a similar problem and what the fix was.

Thanks for the update and let us know how it goes. You could well be the one that helps out the next guy who has this problem and no warrantee.

I picked my tractor up this afternoon. The dealer called and said he couldn't find a problem. He drove it around at idle and at high speed under load with mmm and no load. He asked me lots of questions and was very thorough. He couldn't come up with an answer, bur he said if it does it again to shut it off and call him immediately and he will get a mechanic out to my place to try and find the problem. I don't think i could have asked for more. So as of now I will use it and see what happens. This wasn't the dealer i bought the tractor from so i was not expecting this level of service. I couldn't deal with their salesman, but i have bought parts for half a dozen JD mowers i had and i still buy parts for two i use every week.

My 3320 has a separate steering hydraulic pump and a separate fluid reservoir in the front axle, no connection to the rear hydraulic fluid system. I think that the 3370 is the same.
