A friend of mine has a 3525 and tore the tailpipe and silencer/resonator off right past the muffler, mangling it pretty good. I'm calling it a silencer or resonator for lack of a better term. What's it really called? Anyway, is it really necessary to have that part on there? It's not any type of spark arrestor right? I'm thinking instead of replacing it, he could just put a straight piece of tailpipe right after the muffler. Does anyone think this will be a problem?

Jerrett,
The middle pipe with the bracket that attaches to the frame, is the muffler or silencer, the rear pipe is the spark arrester.
