3525 won't stay running

We have a 3525 at work that started running rough while bush hogging. Fuel was drained from both filters and refilled and engine primed. They were unable to get it to start. I cracked an injector line and cranked it and it started, running rough, no throttle response. When I tighten the injector line, it dies and won't restart unless I crack the line again. Diesel engines are new to me, but with this 3525 and a Case JX60 and a Mustang track loader, I feel like I'm being thrown into the fire

If you've not done so clean or replace the air filter. Be sure the air path from there to the intake is unobstructed. Replace the fuel filters if you've not already done so.

Thanks for the reply. Both fuel filters were replaced within the last three months. The air filter is an oil bath system and was cleaned when the filters were replaced. We had an issue with some bad fuel a few months ago which led to the filters being replace along with the tank being drained etc, but it's been running great since then. I'm puzzled as to why it will only start with a fuel line cracked open.
