This week I was operating my chipper and all went well for the first 2 hours. Then the tractor unexpectedly shut down. At first I thought that something was jammed in the chipper but on closer inspection I found the chipper was OK. I restarted the tractor and resumed chipping only to have it happen again. I again checked out everything and all was OK. I again started chipping and again shut down.
I have come to the conclusion that the seat switch may be the culprit. To use the PTO in off-seat mode you must do the following"
1 place the range lever in neutral
2 Lock the brakes on
3 1500 RPM
4 Get off seat and pull the PTO switch.
If you again sit on the seat it be taken out of off-seat mode
Therefore and movement of the switch would take it out of off-seat mode also.
Question
Have any of you guys experienced this problem?
Would you (could you) bypass this switch?
Tape it closed?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks
