Farmtrac 360DTC
hey everyone. long time lurker, first time poster.

i am looking at buying my first tractor. primary use will be work around the house: snow plowing, i do a bunch of firewood, and maybe 10 yards of mulch a year, some topsoil, and some logging from time to time. i have less than 5 acres so nothing big. I might buy 50 acres down the road, but not now... just always wanted a tractor.

i sized myself in the 25-40hp range, front end loader, 4x4, etc.
i put a wanted ad up on the internet and found a nice 2009 Farmtrac 360dtc with quick detach bucket, 4 rear remotes in the back, and only 250 hours. its a shuttle shift which i heard are reliable, as long as the prev owner knew not to shift to faster speeds and/or go from forward to reverse until your stopped (duh).. he said then the synchros can wear out fast if abused.

i am going to look at it today. the price is $10,750. they only used it to clear hunting paths and run a 2 disc on the back for a food plot. they have owned it for the last 6 years. i know the parts are harder to find than the green and orange brands, but the whole tractor was made by LS and i have a dealer 10 mile away. I guess the loaders were the only thing that were made by farmtrac on the whole tractor, and apparently the cylinders were a funky size. so the dealer by me said they jsut have them rebuilt if they go... unless they need seals which is only $15.

let me know your thoughts.

I have come to the conclusion that acreage is not the metric that matters when sizing a tractor. Select the correct tool for the tasks you have, with a decent safety margin. If that gets you 80hp on 8 acres or 18 hp on 80 acres then that's just how things worked out.

Spec wise the unit seems to be solid for what you say you want to do. Weight splits the difference between a standard L and the Grand models, good 3pt lift, Mitsubishi motor(and a 4 cyl, no less), lots of good here.

Price seems low. Then again, a lack of comps makes it hard to judge, this would be the cheapest 4x4 loader Farmtrac if it were listed on Tractorhouse. I'd suggest taking a mechanic and asking for a test drive.

I just came back from a test drive. Its in great shape. bucket was painted for aesthetic reasons. moved it in and out of all gears and ranges to make sure it didnt pop out of gear or anything funky. manual and auto pto, diff lock, lots of nice features... I liked that everything was very accessible: filters, pumps, zerk fittings everywhere, etc

i put a deposit down and am picking it up monday. its definitely overkill for me, but hey, you never know when ill need to run a 6' implement! tires are huge. 12" rim in front and 24" in back.

A good tractor. Had a 300 dtc with no problems. Traded in on an LS .

Great people to deal with. Extremely helpful with any questions. I live in Newbury not quite as much snow as you.

sounds good. i need to find a service manual or something for it. doubt ill find one.
i only found this operators manual: Farmtrac 3DTC 36DTC 4WD Tractor Operators Operation Manual *****NEW****** | eBay

but its just 20 pages... pretty pricey at $1 a page... :)

i want to do the routine maintenance:
- change oil
- hydro oil
- hydro oil filter
- tire pressure
etc.... but need to know proper procedures, drain bolt locations, etc. im assuming that 20pp owners manual with have that.

hey guys, heres an update.

i picked her up last monday and am ready to do some maintenance. luckily i found a post on here giving me the cross reference numbers for filters. the numbers are for a montana tractor but i guess theyre the same. i ordered all the filters with arrows.. came out to about $85 for everything.

welding up a 3x3x1/4" box framed 3-point trailer hitch now. also i got a way to add removable forks to the frame to make it a carry all.
