3720 - Front Hub Leak

I've got a 3720 that has a left front wheel hub seal that just started to leak. Not bad but enough. It is not the knuckle seak so I assume this should be pretty easy to do.

I've got the know how and the tools but lack the manual to judge what I'm getting into before tearing it apart. Not to mention the torque specs for assembly.

Where do I locate one?... Can it be ordered online?

Check out other threads on the leak. For some, including myself, the leak came from the oil heating and not having a place to vent.
I cracked the fill plug to allow for expansion, and end of leaking.
Also some threads on R&R of the wheel hub.

Thanks BeenThere..... I've suspected that it wasn't venting correctly. When I turned out the fill plug I heard a lot of air escaping or entering... It now leaks just sitting there, so I suspect it is new seal time. I'll check out the manual.

I didn't seen information about manuals in the other thread.. .only really saw one... so had to ask.

eBay has the manual for $169.99 I noticed. Paper.

Sometimes a used one comes up, and I like mine on a CD.

On CD through Deere the TM2138 manual (no cab) is on CD for $115.

Need to be sure the manual is for the tractor and s/n that you have.

I have some experience in replacing a seal in the front axle of a Yanmar tractor I used to have. When my seal blew I believe it was due to low oil levels in the front axle. When the front axle is low on oil it heats up the seals due to friction and eventually warps them. Then you start to notice oil leaking. When the oil heats up it expands which compresses the air to an extent within the axle which also helps drain oil when seals blow out. :confused2:

I would check the oil level in your front axle. If it is good then it has a venting problem which forced the oil past the seal. If it is low on oil I would assume it heated up hot enough to warp a seal which and now it leaks oil. Just my :2cents:
