3720 Issue

I have a 3720 that started to heat up a little today for the first time....did not get in the red on the gauge. I was mowing a field with my finish mower and it was really thick. It was about 90 degrees also....I think the tractor was working hard but never noticed this before. It sent out a code of EEnPH1...the last one could be an I.

I stopped mowing and let the turbo cool down a little and turned it off. I turned it back on later and it worked fine and the code was off.

Do I need to have it looked at by the dealer?

Verify that your coolant is full, to the operating range. Check your radiator & screen and clean them if necessary.

If you have enough coolant, and if the radiator and/or screen are not clogged with dust, it should be able to handle working in 90 degrees, IMHO. If either of these needed attention, that was probably the source of the problem.

My tractor coolant resivoir is always at the full mark cold or hot for some reason. It never expandable or retracted. Weird

That sounds a little strange. Have you removed the radiator cap to see if radiator is in fact full? You may have a damaged hose connecting the reservoir to the radiator.

Mine overheated once too, and I was at first confused because the reservoir was at the correct mark. So when it cooled down, I removed the radiator cap. Couldn't see any coolant at all. For some reason, at some point a low radiator won't pull fluid from the reservoir. I topped up the radiator, the problem's never come back.

Probably the grills covered by debris..not an uncommon occurence when mowing.

Suggest you buy a 2" paint brush and trim the bristles down to about 3/4's of an inch. That works quite well for cleaning the grills in the field.

I had checked all the items suggested except for taking the radiator cap off. I will check it out in the morning.

I will let you know how I make out.

Thanks guys. I'll have to check my radiator later. I have been mowing with a/c and the temp gauge has been in the middle. I rrmeber topping it off almost 2 months ago. Ill check again

i checked the radiator. it is full. i also squeezed the hose running to the cab heater and also i squeezed the water pump hose. The coolant wants to pump out of the radiator opening. so it doesnt seem like there is any obstructio. I dont know why my overflow doesnt expand or retract with temperature fluctuation. Do you guys?

Have you checked with a temp gun? Possible the gauge is off?

If anything was plugged completely something would have to blow eventually.

My overflow is almost always empty but the radiator is always full.
There could be some restrictions in the radiator causing it not to cool efficiently. Also in my experience the screens in front of the radiator does not block everything. Hose out the radiator from the engine side.
