I dislike having no shear protection on my front mount snow blower impeller. I'm thinking of trying to put something like the shear bolt yoke on this page;

right at the pto output shaft. Would protect the entire system and would be relatively easy to access. Not sure on the physical size for these units and if they would work so am trying to get what information I can while I'm stuck at the in-laws doing the family thing for another week.

If this is a Deere blower you should have shears bolts on the augers ( each side) and a shear bolt on the impeller.
It's Deere 59" blower. There are shear bolts on the augers but none that I can see on the impeller. I have checked the manual and it only shows the shear bolts for the augers. Now have broken 2 of the castings that the impeller bolts to, it's getting a little expensive. Seems like a poor design to not have any protection for the impeller.
I feel my choices are to come up with replacement for the impeller mounting that incorporates a shear bolt or to have a shear bolt yoke as per the link in my previous posting. I think the yoke replacement would be easer if I can find the parts.

PS the operators manual for the blower;

You are correct there is no shear pin. I know for sure my 47" blowers have shear pins on the impeller cause I've changed a few of them, I just assumed my 59" had them also. I will look the next time I get up to the cottage and let you know what I see.
Would it be possible t post some pics of how they do the shear bolt on the 47" model, may give me some ideas if I decided to come up with a shear bolt for the 59" I have.
Thanks,
Al
