My dealer demonstrated way to detach FEL. He put the bucket flat on the level concrete and inched it forward to bring the loader support arms up/off their mounting posts on the body of the tractor. Doing this seems to scar up the bottom of the bucket surface quite a bit. I have been taught, previously, to roll up the bucket fully, and to use the pivot point underneath in contact with the ground, as the FEL is moved forward, off its mounts. which is the correct way? does it matter?

Here is a link to a video Deere has on their website that shows the removal and installation of the loader.

I think the best way would be as they do in the video, with the bucket flat on the ground. You also want to be able to eliminate any pressure in the lines so your couplers work easier.

Dutch, good video.

buckie, in my experience with the new buckets you will either want to roll the bucket back slightly to the second flat or go all the way to full dump and past. The reason for this, is if you do it the way shown in the video, the bucket will curl back naturally over time. This will cause pressure to build up in the hoses and you won't be able to connect them without "bleeding" them by putting the heads in a rag and pressing or banging them against something. My old 755 never had this problem, but the bucket design then was different. If you roll the bucket back slightly, the disadvantage is that water will accumulate in it, if you store in the full dump + position, this won't happen.

But your hyraulic cylinder rods will be exposed and subject to corrosion followed by leaking seals. I would rather have the water accumulate in the bucket.

Dutch,

Nice video. But why does that orange tractor have a green ballast box and why does the guy always take the long way around the tractor? It seems like the shortest way back to the seat is around the back of the tractor. It just seems like he could have done more to keep up with the Deere /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

that's probably what you would call propaganda...

I wouldn't call it Propaganda, I watched this video twice to make sure both men take the same route each time they get on and off the tractor. It looks realistic to me. The only thing I would have done different is climb up on the closest side of the machine, although it is tight, squeezing through is easier than walking the whole way around. But both men took the same route each time they had to get on and off their tractor. So it looks fair. John Deere Loaders come off faster and easier.

Hi, Buckie,

As the hydraulics are detaching the FEL, I slowly back
the tractor out instead of letting the bucket get pushed forward.
So, as the loader wants to move away (forward), I back the tractor
up instead. Takes some practice, but where you drop the bucket
is where it stays (plus or minus a couple of inches). Moving
slowly is the key.

The inverse when attaching the loader - you want to drive the
tractor forward - very slowly as the arms move downward.

I know it's a poor explanation, but hopefully it conveys
the idea.

I got tired of trying to place in the garage where I wanted the
loader to sit and then when detaching it, it always moved and
ended up a good foot or more from where I wanted it. This is
okay if you're outdoors, but not in the garage. AND definitely
not on an epoxy - urethane floor. I put a sheet of plexiglas
under the bucket and the arms to keep from messing up
the floor.

Cheers,

Lon

I have a 72" Front snow blade. Can I detach the loader with that on? I think I read only to detach with the standard materials bucket on. Anyone have experience detaching with other attachments on?
